TEN's 25th Anniversary!
11 Jan, 2023
The celebration of a company built on family values, dedication, and a love for the Energy industry.
25 years ago, Ian Scott (affectionately known as “Scotty”) had an idea and developed the TEN business plan on his kitchen bench. On January 9 the following year (1998) TEN became a reality.
With several products in hand, often sharing a bicycle to make sales calls and deliveries, Scotty, and his sons Corey and Andrew were on their way to making their mark in the Energy Industry.
The industry was crying out for a company that could supply a range of quality tools and equipment, and over the next few years, they built a brand that was recognized throughout Australia and New Zealand. This prompted them, in early 2000s to expand into NZ, opening an office in Auckland. Followed by the opening of offices in VIC & NSW.
Fast forward to 2006, TEN had outgrown 89 Granite Street and the plans begin to remodel and move to 186 Granite Street, including a dedicated sewing room, workshop and “finally” offices.
The following year, Corey became Managing Director, and Scotty established TEN Hire.
In 2008 TEN re-branded and celebrated 10 years in business. Over these 10 years the Scott’s secured several exclusive agencies for well-known industry leading suppliers and in 2011 TEN released their very first product catalogue and moved to a 4000sqm site in Banyo. Several busy years would follow, with the implementation of an OHS Management system, receiving an NSCA award in the process. Growth in WA & VIC prompted the opening of a warehouse and services facility in both states.
Over the next few years, TEN expanded its offering, to include Asset Life Extension Products (ALE) and Transmission and distribution line materials. In 2018, TEN celebrated 20 years in business, and 20 years of ISO9001 Quality Assurance.
2019 saw TEN move further into the transmission and distribution line material market, taking on the MacLean Power Systems distributorship nationally. The same year TEN opened a new office in Tuggerah NSW, with 4 support staff, including an engineer dedicated to the transmission line material space.
Much to Scotty’s delight, in 2020 TEN Hire moved into a dedicated facility in Geebung. With an expanding fleet of Tesmec machines for hire and an increase in the number of machines sold, the demand for servicing, repair, refurbishment and machine operation training prompted the establishment of the SRT division.
2021 saw the release of the comprehensive and highly sort after TEN tools, equipment and line materials catalogue V2, with over 400 pages, including 3100 products and 44 manufacturers.
2023, 25 years of solid growth, continuing to move with industry demands. Starting with the Scott family, their dedicated staff, the network of local & international suppliers and the support and trust of their customers.
TEN would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support over the past 25 years and look forward to being an integral part of the industry’s changing needs for many years to come.
