Mining Electrical Safety Association - 2018 Conference

TEN Group recently exhibited at the MESA (Mining Electrical Safety Association) 2018 Conference in Brisbane, and are proud to have supported this event for over 4 years. TEN Group sees this particular event as an important platform to share ideas and collaborate with leading organisations in mining electrical safety best practice.

Arc flash protection is always keenly sort after from our mining customers, and we were proud to exhibit alongside Honeywell Australia representing the Salisbury range of arc flash solutions. The new prism face shields with improved colour recognition in the preferred 40cal Lift Front Hood Design was launched at the show. Working in often poorly lit areas, the ability to decipher cable colours correctly is a critical task for safe work.

"We have many new products in the pipeline and our focus on asset life extension is delivering effective solutions to mitigate failure points in our ageing network." says Lindsay Taylor from the TEN Group.

With an increase in thermal imaging and inspection, we are seeing a rising number of failing connectors through hot joints, failing dead ends or damage at suspension clamps. This is where ClampStar provides a cost effective solution to restringing lines. As an engineered mechanical/electrical shunt, the ClampStar units restore the electrical and mechanical integrity of the connectors. This solution has a major cost advantage over traditional repair methods that include the cost of stringing a new line, or alternatively cutting out the joint and replacing with two joints - thus adding two new potential failure points in the future.

Polywater Powerpatch was also very well received. Offering permanent transformer leak repair, on-site and without losing valuable downtime - provides real benefit in time and financial savings. PowerPatch allows repair of active leaks in transformer housings, fins and bushings while in service, reducing the need for costly removal, refurbishment and replacement. Other benefits of patching instead of refurbishment mean that you do not expose the transformer to environmental contamination risks such as dust and water that can cause further issues in the future. The epoxy putty has a high dielectric strength of 43kV reducing partial discharge issues when mixed with the oil and the epoxy coating becomes chemically inert once set - so is not prone to any further degradation by UV or weather making it a great permanent solution.
